Getting her start DJing in Washington, DC and the East Coast's hottest venues, DJ Lil’ Elle aka Ellen Lovelidge relocated to California 4 years ago but has been bringing her upbeat vibes to the West Coast for longer than that. As a creative director and artist, she has a deep knowledge of music spanning across many genres and can be heard spinning a mix of anything from hip hop, house, funk and soul, rock and roll, pop, and more. Her DC roots led to strong moombahton and latin house sets throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and she enjoys playing a laid back beach house vibe in San Diego. Outside the club setting DJ Lil’ Elle has taken her skills to a number of concerts and special events: opening for artists like Amanda Blank, Wale and K.flay, spinning alongside turntable masters like Mad Decent’s DJ Sega, playing the USA Polo Cup Kickoff party, providing the tunes for a Sak’s Fifth Avenue fashion show, and DJing several weddings as some examples.

Wow, dead period for my blog. In all honestly, after my tour last year I took a break from DJing clubs and focused on my day job as well as DJing and MCing private events and especially weddings. I’ve shown up on the tables with friends at clubs here and there – from SF to LA to DC – but am really enjoying some downtime to truly absorb the music I love, not just the stuff I have to play when DJing to an often ferocious crowd.
In the meantime I have been making mixes of all kinds, supporting the music I’m actually rockin’. I’m going to do a quick roundup of the past year of mixes before diving in to up and coming mixes as they spawn. Check it.
Last time you caught me it was Soft and Softness in May 2012. Damn, that was a long time ago.
Time for a recap.
July 2012 I put together the second of my Get Crunk Stay Crunk mixes with pure silly, inappropriate hip hop. The name Get Crunk Stay Crunk came about on a road trip with my girl Bree from DC to Atlanta to New Orleans to Austin to her final destination of Las Cruces, NM the week before Obama’s first Inauguration weekend. Let’s just say it was an unforgettable experience.
In August 2012 I did a Coast 2 Coast mix based on songs I was jammin during my tour. Think indie rock/pop meets poppy RnB plus some Steve Miller Band and other classics.
As the I’ve-always-been-a-part-of trap movement first gained speed last fall I put out Full Time Jawdropper in November 2012 for that serious hip hop meets electronic music feel.
I took a few months off for the holidaze as I typically do but came out with the third volume of Get Crunk Stay Crunk in March 2013. Kendrick had blown up and my love for Bay Area hip hop could not be stronger.
In May 2013, after enjoying warmer weather in the Bay, I put out Splash 2 which was my sort of poolside vibes mix in its second form. Moombahsoul has always warmed my heart and combined with RnB and some smooth indie vibes, this mix is still on constant rotation.
I soon got sick of the redundant, constantly used sounds of trap music and turned to the softer side of hip hop and RnB remixes with my ode to life Vibin mix out in July 2013.
Last but certainly not least is the recent mix I put out with my partner in crime Mathias, sharing inspirational tunes that have moved the two of us in the past few months. Our October 2013 Inspiration mix is a direct view into our thoughts.
What’s next? What do you want? What do I have cooking?
With my Spotify Pro account in full force, 2012 was the year that I returned to albums as opposed to random tracks here and there. In no particular order but numbered, these were the ones I loved the most.
After a long hike back up the west coast to San Francisco I flew out to New York last Monday, played a gig in Brooklyn with my girl Ex Ex Ex, attended a killer wedding and then hopped down the coast to Philadelphia, where most of my family is from.
Next and last stop of tour is PhysEd 202 with my boys James Nasty and Mathias at DC’s Rock and Roll Hotel tomorrow night, Thursday August 23.
Hanging with friends Gun$ Garcia and Dirty South Joe in Philly, I had the fortunate opportunity to DJ fave record label party Mad Decent Monday at The M Room along with guests P.O.L.Style & Nargiz from Tokyo and another resident Gianni Lee. This gig popped off and I had one of my favorite sets in a long time, running through favorite playlists and tracks I listen to myself on a regular basis. I was asked to record the 45 minute set but didn’t so figured I’d at least post the tracklist so you know what I’m rocking out to on my headphones these days.
Really excited to put a similar mix together when I return to SF. In the meantime, peep the tracks after the jump.
A couple dates into tour and I’m having a blast, visiting with friends, exploring LA first, then all over Orange County and this evening headed to San Diego. Tonight I’ll be spinning alongside SD’s DJ Joemama for Lookout Weekend at highly recommended El Camino in Little Italy. It will be a night full of sweet disco house and beach sounds, tasty food and drinks and more quality friend time.
Hit the jump to check out albums and mixes I’m listening to while cruising around SoCal. If you have any suggestions for what I should be listening to other than these, holler on the Twitter.
Inspired by friends, family and fans (that #tripleFlife), I am embarking on my first official US tour this month. Catch me in a city near you and if not, holler for bookings.

There’s been so much I could have written about like my trip to DJ in Portland in February, DJing in New York in April and covering Coachella for SF Station but the best way to follow all of that is to keep up on the Twitter or my newish Facebook fan page.
Every Thursday you can catch me DJing in the Marina at Comet Club and I play all kinds of gigs on other nights so just stay up with the social media or holler and I’ll let you know what’s on the schedule and where you can find the tunes.
This mix is a bunch of tunes I’ve been digging through the winter and into spring. Lots of chill house, soul and that RnB vibe. Perfect for a long drive, sitting back sippin cocktails or to woo you awake on a Sunday morning. Enjoy.
